Cycling

With miles of scenic trails and highways, cycling enthusiasts come from around the country to ride in Alpine County. Road cyclists are drawn to the winding scenic highways, including those which cross Carson, Monitor and Ebbett's Pass.

Alpine County hosts the annual "Tour of the California Alps - Death Ride" each July, featuring 129 miles and 16,000 vertical feet of endurance cycling.

Though not permitted in the County's two Wilderness areas or Grover Hot Springs State Park, mountain bicyclists have ample room to play in the region's magnificent National Forests, with numerous roads in the Monitor Pass region, along the Blue Lakes and Forestdale Roads and along the Tahoe Rim Trail.

Bike rentals are available at limited locations in Bear Valley and Kirkwood, while Kirkwood Mountain Resort offers a mountain bike park with an extensive trail system and lift access.
